Many vibe coded apps are being built to break the silos on SaaS Companies.

This is the 'SaaS apocalypse'. So while no one is going to vibe-code a full replacement for Salesforce - every company will vibe code an app on top of Salesforce so they aren't forced to use it.

The business phrasing for this is "Investors fear AI agents will render traditional, seat-based SaaS tools obsolete by vibe-coding complex software workflows" - source

Personally, I vibe coded a single replacement for 5 productivity tools because each of them did only 1-2 thing well, a few things poorly, and none of them integrated.

This SaaS apocalypse means there's a bunch of shifts that happen.

Most current generation small-scale SaaS tools are going to die out. If your app has been charging $10/mo, you probably can be vibe coded in a few days for an internal replacement. Enough people will that the business math no longer works.

Large established companies like Salesforce have their value drop and level off and open themselves up to new competition. Salesforce's moat is whatever amount of trust, reliability and deep business relationships with existing customers they maintain, not the technical ecosystem. Agents open up companies to greater churn risk - it becomes almost trivial to tell Claude Code to port your salesforce-based app or integration to another service.

SaaS is forced to move away from their normal platform-approaches to value capture. There's been a standard business playbook where VC backed SaaS companies provide outsized value for users to join their platform, with the plan to extract that value back once they are locked in to the platform. That no longer works because AI tools reduce migration costs and prevent platform capture.

Companies have to shift to provide continuous value, no longer able to monetize through what Cory Doctorow calls Enshittification (source). Walled Garden approaches will fail in an arms race against AI.

What I'm still wrapping my mind around:

The shift from human development to AI-based development continues to turn into a shift from Human users to AI-based users.

I'm letting AI tools decide what services I use these days. I use Railway.com instead AWS or Vercel. Why? Because AI told me to. I only logged into Railway once to give it my credit card, and Claude Code has taken care of everything else with the SDK. Very soon I will trust claude to make decisions that cost me less than $50. And that number will grow.

We're going to see a real shift from companies being built, marketed and sold to humans to being built, marketed and sold to Agents.

No one has a repeatable business plan for that. No one knows what this looks like in 3-5 years.
